Balaklava - Pearls Before Swine
Import CD of the original 1968 LP

Pearls Before Swine, a late 1960s studio group, was basically one man named Tom Rapp. Born in 1947 in North Dakota, he learned to play guitar from a local country singer. The story goes he once came in second in a Minnesota talent contest where a certain Robert Zimmerman was fifth.

In the early sixties Tom Rapp was living in Melbourne, Florida. With some high school friends he recorded some songs which they sent to the obscure avant-garde ESP DISK label in New York. To their surprise, the demo tape was found interesting and in 1967 they were invited to come to New York to make a recording. The first album, One Nation Underground was about war, flower power, love and those other things that made the sixties what they were. The second album, Balaklava became even more philosophic and mysterious..
